I'm a blogger!

I started this blog because I follow so many other bloggers and it seemed so much fun. Little did I know that even setting up the blog would take hours! I always read other blogs that have been started before the women get married and have children. Then as soon as they have a baby the posts begin getting sporadic. So, I figured I better start now before babies come!

Just a little more about me. I was born and raised in Maryland. I love this state. I'm one who loves the changing of the seasons! I grew up living with both parents until they divorced when I was 14. I originally went back and forth between parents during high school, like most kids of divorced parents. I eventually just began living with my mom when I was home on breaks from college and after college. I went to public school until high school. I then decided, along with my mom's help, to go to an all girls Catholic high school. Shockingly, it was one of the best decisions I could have made. It was an excellent experience for me. My school was located in the inner city of Baltimore and gave all of us girls a huge dose of culture. Surprisingly, there was less drama at our school of 400 girls than what I hear about from co-ed schools. I then went to Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA. Again, this was another perfect decision. The four years I spent there were some of the best years of my life. The college itself is beautiful. On the campus is the first Benedictine Monastery in the country. There are monks walking around campus in long robes and very long beards. I was able to travel to Brazil twice to do missionary work with our campus ministry group. The best thing about SVC were the friendships I made. I am incredibly blessed with all of the friendships I made during college. Although we are hours, even several time zones apart, I am in daily contact with many of my closest friends. I graduated in 2009 and have since traveled, visited, gone to homecomings, a ton of weddings, and made even more lasting memories with these friends. I then went on to get my Masters of Social Work from University of Maryland, Baltimore. I graduated from that program in 2012. Since then I have worked in child welfare for the State of Maryland doing foster care and adoption social work. I have obtained my LGSW (licensed graduate social worker) license and as of today (!!) gotten my LCSW-C (licensed certified social worker-clinical). I now have my highest licensure for social workers.

I am a very happy newlywed. I got married to a wonderful man that I had been dating for 3 years on 8.16.14. We were engaged for a little over a year. I had so much fun planning our wedding and miss it so much. I have a ton of tricks and ways to save money by talking vendors down if anyone needs any help! We are quickly approaching 6 months of marriage! It's been an interesting 6 months. I will write more about the joys and adjustments of a new marriage and beginning of living together on another post. We went on our 8 day honeymoon to Aruba and loved every second on the white sandy beaches and blue water! We are planning to start trying to have a little one about a year from now. We want to be able to enjoy married life just the two of us, travel some more, and save as much money as possible. I have a dream of staying home with my babies when they come so saving $ now is a big deal to us!

I had a dog (Abby) from growing up that began living with my husband when we were dating. We just recently got another pup (Maggie) and are having so much fun with her. She's a handful but we love her! Here's a picture of our little family:

Thanks for reading! More to come :)
